Nickel-Free plating. Nickel-Free Plating is a type of hypoallergenic plating. Why is NICKEL FREE important?
When the plating or overlay wears, even microscopically, and allergic reaction to the nickel in the base metal can occur. Nickel is in a majority of metal items we use because it is inexpensive and adds durability as well as luster to other metals.
What kind of jewelry is nickel free?
Make sure your jewelry is made of surgical-grade stainless steel or either 14K, 18K or 24 Karat yellow gold. White gold may contain nickel. Other nickel-free metals include pure sterling silver, copper, platinum and titanium.

Rhodium is a precious metal, a member of the platinum family. Rhodium Plating is most often found on white gold. The term white gold is something of a misnomer.
